I don't remember what I owe Brad a Sherlock for.

MK: it was over in the Lefthandedness in Fictional Characters thread over in the Modesitt fora:
Brad_H wrote:You're thinking of Maedhros.

Morgoth captured him and hung him by the wrist from the heights of Thangorodrim. Fingon rescued him, at great risk to himself, but Maedhros lost his right hand in their escape.

Do I get a Sherlock Point for that ?

well, I never said it was worth a sherlock, but it was an impressive clarification. However, Brad just posted details while I was the one that brought the character up (though namelessly).

Eh - Hmmm - the order as standing was orderred by total score... giving our stats w****s some natural targets in their sights...

[next person to update can simply correct this back if they agree with my /*suggestion*/]
/kilt feeling somewhat like Henry of Anjou
- 1 Sherlock to the first person to figure out this referrance - NO GOOGLE! If you can't do it from memory or by asking people nearby who also don't use google[on your honour...] you don't get the point.

You are most likely right - I don't pay too close attention to the Sherlock scores [wonder why  ]

But if we could all pay attention to that as we update score it would be nice...

Thanmks for making the change - and SO FAST!

The Sherlock Thread + Help

Post by rjafl »

Dear RAH fans:

I love this idea of the Sherlock thread, but seem to be at a disadvantage: where does one find these quotes? Please forgive my CAD (computer deficeit syndrome),and the limitations of web tv (slow page finds, difficulty in navigating non-e-mail forums (fora?) I keep thinking everyone's personal signature is the quote to comment on. Can anyone help here? I do have book skills!!!:) Rjafl :slap:

Sherlock points are occasionally offered in various parts of the forum - they appear randomly.

More recently, somebody made the decision to include various 'quote games' in the scoring - the only active ones at present are in the Modessit & Tolkien sub-fora.

There was also a recent award by kiltannen in his (now closed) 20 questions thread.

In any case, this is a rather lacadasically pursued game ... we only keep track because some find it amusing to do so.

I myself have yet to actually earn any, although I do try now and again, usually they ask some assinine question about paragraph two, page 4 in hermine melviles 17th book. Needless to say I rarely have read the books they ask about.
