Correct! You're up (again). :)

BTW, my sherlock disappeared with the server move, so I figured I'd add it back in when I update the post for this (in a minute or so).
Waiting patiently for the next Lois McMaster Bujold book.

So, next one :
"Interim reports tend to elicit orders."
Whick book ? Who said it ? In response to what ?

Hey, I'm still relatively new, I'm merely trying to make up for my late start in the sherlocks :P

Actually, that one's already been used (did a search because it was definitely familiar in more than just the book passage).

Oops, sorry (proof it was a good one ? ^^)

So another one :
"I came to apologize," she said.
"You? Apologize to me? Why?"
What are "I/she/You", "me", and "Why" ?

Well, one week and no new quote. In Kurt's absence, should I post a new one, or what ?

Well, Ghost, what do you say?
Three more days, up to ten days after Caroline's acknowledgment, then she can post a new one?

I think anyone can post a new one, Kurt cannot answer this quote and after whomever posts they do not have to wait the five days to answer.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you,

OK, Caroline do you want to put on a new one?
The good news is that, when that one is answered (by anyone but Kurt, he is barred not just for 5 days but for that first new quote without time limit) and a new one is posted, the 5-days exclusion rule won't apply to you on that one, as Ghost has just said.
If you don't, anyone can do it...

Caroline? No point to wait for Kurt anymore. Do you want to post? Anyone can post, now, so if you don't do soon (nor anyone else), I'll post a new quote sometime later today.

No reaction yet? SO I go for it:
"Bah!" She began to pace, XXXess on a short chain. Her emotional wounds seemed to work themselves open and bleed before his eyes. He ached to staunch them.

Book?
She?
He?
XXX is an animal of the Panthera genus (so the -ess makes it a female one). Which one?
What are the wounds?

Disclaimer: the book is not _EoA_, she is not Elli Quinn, XXX is not a tiger. That one was already asked.

BonusES:

One half point for each of the following

a) Book, and a different female character for the same animal, plus some context

b) Book, and a different animal of the Panthera genus for the same female character, plus some context.

Caveat: in one of the two cases, there are two female characters, but one is anonymous, so if you answer by memory, it's OK if you don't mention that.

Reminder: Kurt is not allowed to answer this one, even after five days.
And I'll be allowed ot answer the next one immediately, and so will be everyone else, even Kurt (except the person who guesses this one and asks the next oen, of course)

Yoohoo?

Anybody here?

Is it just that the quote is too difficult, or has everyone gone AWOL?

I don't mind putting a longer quote, if it is what is needed, just let me know someone is still interested!

Not AWOL (See above).

I just can't place it.

A longer quote maybe?
"What, a sacrifice for his sins? Am I to form myself into the pattern of a YYY like trying to work a magic spell for absolution? I could spend my whole life working out that ritual and not come to the end of it, damn it!"

"Not the sacrifice," he tried to tell her. "The altar, perhaps."

"Bah!" She began to pace, leopardess on a short chain. Her emotional wounds seemed to work themselves open and bleed before his eyes. He ached to staunch them.

"Don't you see," he launched himself again, passionate with conviction, "you'd do better with me. Acting or reacting, we carry him in us. You can't walk away from him any more than I can.

I had to hide as YYY a phrase that would be too revealing.

Book?
She (female protagonist)?
He (person referred as "he" in the dialogue by both protagonists)?
He (male protagonist of the dialogue)?

XXX is an animal of the Panthera genus (so the -ess makes it a female one). Which one?
What are the wounds?

She (female protagonist)?
He (person referred as "he" in the dialogue by both protagonists)?
He (male protagonist of the dialogue)?

The Warrior's Apprentice
Elena Bothari
Sargent Konstatine Bothari
Miles Vorkosigan

XXX = Leopardess

Emotional Wounds = The anger and hate she feels towards her father, Sgt Bothari, because she considers herself to be a rape-bred bastard.

Perfectly correct.

One :sherlock: and the next quote (which I am allowed to answer at once, because I did not answer the previous one, but restarted a cold game :D )

What about hte bonuses?
Another leopardess?

Elena Bothari compared to a different female of Panthera genus (which contains exactly four animals: leopard (done for Elena, OK for a different person) , tiger (done: that was Elli Quinn in _EoA_), lion and jaguar)?

"...You just have time to pee and eat lunch."

"What's the cargo? I haven't seen this much hopping around since the last medical emergency."
Book?
Who is speaker #1?
Who is speaker #2?
What IS "the cargo"?

Perhaps a bit more.
"Hi, guys. What's the rush?"
"We're supposed to have this bird reloaded and turned around in an hour, that's what," replied the maintenance man. You just have time to pee and eat lunch."
"What's the cargo? I haven't seen this much hopping around since the last medical emergency."
Man, trying to get the punctuation correct is a killer sometimes, espically if you are typing with one hand, and holding the book with the other!

Book? Falling Free
Who is speaker #1? identified as a shuttle maintenance man
Who is speaker #2? Ti (shuttle co-pilot on the shuttle Tony, Claire, and Andy stow away on)
What IS "the cargo"? equipment and supplies for the VP's visit

I suspected it was Falling Free from the original version, but have been too busy to look it up until now.

Miles to Vorredi in "Cetaganda". Miles and Ivan have just interrogated Yenaro, Vorredi comes and warns him he is a target, then Miles tries to get Vorredi to go on investigating Yenaro without telling him why (thus his "feeling")

I remembered it vaguely as a quote from a discussion between Miles and a colleague ImpSec, but had to check to get the actual book and moment.

 I knew it was Miles but I thought he was talking to Illyan, or maybe his father (whom he does call "sir" occasionally, if not most of the time). I tried a few likely places for those two, but I did not think of Vorredi and Cetaganda...
