LMB Quote Game
Moderator: Ghost
You're kidding!! I did not expect that to be correct... it was just a wild guess to eliminate one possibility and maybe get someone else a step closer. If I had really thought it was correct I would not have posted as I've got a medical procedure tomorrow. It's no big thing but I'm not going to be around for a few days, so it was a stupid time to play.
Can I ask one of the more infrequent players to jump in and take a turn in my place? Maybe gollum? or ghost? or blackwing? I do think that whoever takes over the next quote should get the Sherlock too.
I'm sorry... I really wouldn't have posted if I'd thought it was correct.
I just wanted to keep the game going.

Book? Winterfair GiftsReede Kullervo wrote:Xxx’s wintry smile promised retribution for that dig as Xxx coded open the doors for them. "Enjoy yourselves, children."
Who is Xxx (first time name, second pronoun)? Pym
Who are them (or yourselves or children)?Roic, and Taura, going out for some exercise
What was dig about? Roic made a dig about no one else being fit/young/tall enough (can't remember which of them it started as and transmuted to offhand ) to keep up with Taura's pace since she's quite tall and fit.
No I didn't actually look it up.

Get well soon, risi! And I thought there was a chance that the quote could have been between Harra and Miles in either Mountains of Mourning, or Memory, but didn't have time to look it up. As it turns out, I still don't have copies of Beguilement, so it would have been a fruitless search anyway.

I guess an expansion is in order:
Who is he?
Who is She?
(Xxx is a place, two words long. Yyy is a person.)
Which book?"Fine," he sputtered at last. "She can have you. I don't want to see your ugly face again. Don't come back to Xxx. Yyy will deliver your things before nightfall."
Who is he?
Who is She?
(Xxx is a place, two words long. Yyy is a person.)
Waiting patiently for the next Lois McMaster Bujold book.
I guess an expansion is in order again. If no one gets it now, I guess I'll declare it cold, and try a different one.
Who is Bbb?
Who is Aaa?
(Xxx is a place, two words long. Yyy is a person.)
Which book?"Do you obey me, or him?"
An odd gleam flared in Zzz's eye. He tilted his head towards Aaa. "Her."
Bbb was so taken aback, it took him several seconds to regain his speech."Fine," he sputtered at last. "She can have you. I don't want to see your ugly face again. Don't come back to Xxx. Yyy will deliver your things before nightfall."

"(...) You realize, XXX, you did this? AAAed the BBB CCC single-handedly?"
"Oh," breathed XXX, "it took both hands."
Book?
Who speks first?
Who is XXX?
Context ?
(AAA is a verb, BBB an adjective, CCC a noun. I'd take as context any three words carrying the same idea even if they are not exactly how they appear in the book so one can answer by memory, plus some context on the role of XXX's hands)
Human is as human does....Animals don't weep, Nine

"(...) You realize, XXX, you did this? AAAed the BBB CCC single-handedly?"
"Oh," breathed XXX, "it took both hands."
Book? The Vor Game.
Who speaks first? Miles.
Who is XXX? Gregor
Context ? Miles is congratulating Gregor on outwitting Cavilo during her attempted kidnapping/suborning of Gregor so she could marry him and become Empress Cavilo, as well as defusing the Cetagandans planned invasion of Vervain
I've allways wondered what Gregor's point of view in that story would have read liked.

The thought has just occurred to me that I need a computer desk with a bookshelf big enough to hold all of LMB's books, so that when I need one, I don't have to go far to find it. Since I started playing this game, I tend to have at least one of her books on my desk at any given time.
I have a hunch about the quote, but I want to look it up before I post.
Less embarrassing when I'm wrong...

Five days finally!
I recognized the quote immediately: I remember my mental image of the old geezer with her/his petty viscous attitude while others are risking their lives.
In "Legacy", when Dag (person spoken to) comes back from an expedition against a particularly vicious Malice, he is told how a camp accountant sent minions to recover his (Dag's) tent.
But I don't have a copy of "Legacy", it is one that I borrowed. So I can't check details.
- I guess YYY is Dag's mother. It could just be his brother Dar, but "crony" fits better with the older one.
- now the speaker... that's harder.
I'd say 49-49 chance between Razi and Utau, recounting an incident that happened in his absence (but both got back before Dag who lingered longer among the "farmers"). I am accounting for a slim possibility of someone else who was actually present at that time, either their common (which is quite uncommon a situation) wife or maybe Aunt Mari's husband Cattagus. But the quote sounds more like a younger, energetic man, a patroller, so I give the latter just 2% probability together.
