His hand jerked at a soft, cool kiss, but it was only a few last shredded leaves and flower petals sifting gently down out of the air to settle all around them.

XXX said in a muffled voice, "YYY, will you please get off my ZZZ?

" (...) A proper XXX contest should have at least three sides anyway, it's traditional."
(...) means that the speaker says something before the quote. No dots in the text.

Book ?
XXX ?
Who is talking ?
To whom ?

Not at all. Seriously, I don't see why you would think such a thing.

None of the above is correct.

Still, there is some amount of truth for XXX, but no; it is not the answer I am waiting for.

A longer quote ?
"A rude oversight on somebody's part. Hm. Tell you what--go change your clothes. You can be my team. YYY can root for his own today. A proper XXX contest should have at least three sides anyway, it's traditional."
Book ?
YYY ? (a character)
XXX ? (an adjective)
Who is talking ?
To whom ?

If you answer by memory, any unanmbiguous designation of YYY will do, no need to give exactly what appears in the quote.

Bonus: for 1/2 point, whom does the speaker have in mind when mentioning "somebody" ?

A new quote, with a bonus and a hint:
“(…) You realize, XXX, you did this? ‘SOME DEED’ singlehandedly?"
"Oh," breathed XXX, "it took both hands."

Book ?
Who speaks first ?
(…) means this is only the end of the first speaker’s speech.
XXX?
What is the ‘DEED’ that XXX did, according to the first speaker?
If you answer by memory, you don’t have to answer literally, just give the general idea.

Hint: you are not allowed to answer the bonus, below, is this thread, because of the younger members of this forum.
Only answer in the special thread I have started in the “Velvet Room” for this purpose.

Bonus
XXX’s answer takes a tangent with respect to the ‘DEED’ mentioned by the first character to speak.
For 1/2 point what did XXX have in mind ?

A longer quote?
“(…) You realize, XXX, you did this? ‘SOME DEED’ singlehandedly?"
"Oh," breathed XXX, "it took both hands."
YYY decided not to touch that one. "Anyway—if we can—we need to lock the ZZZ's down. Get them under control, or at least out from behind everyone's backs."
"Very well."
"I suggest a round of good-guy-bad-guy. I'll be happy to take the part of bad guy."

Book ?
Who is YYY, who speaks first ?
(…) means this is only the end of YYY’s first speech.
XXX ?
(YYY and XXX are the only two characters who alternate in this dialogue - YYY will play "bad guy")
Who are the ZZZ's ?
What is the ‘DEED’ that XXX did, according to the first speaker?

Hint #1: you are not allowed to answer the bonus, below, is this thread, because of the younger members of this forum.
Only answer in the special thread I have started in the “Velvet Room” for this purpose.

Hint #2: The full name of the ZZZ's is not mentioned in YYY's second speech, only a shortened version (it is OK to give either the full name of the shortened one). More precisely, in this quote, ZZZ is a single word, but often they appear as "AAA's ZZZ".
The essence of the hint is that AAA is dead at that point of the book.

Bonus
XXX’s answer takes a tangent with respect to the ‘DEED’ mentioned by YYY. It is mentioned in the quote that YYY decided not to comment on this tangent.
For 1/2 point what did XXX have in mind (something that YYY perfectly understood)?

For 1/2 point what did XXX have in mind (something that YYY perfectly understood), and who is BBB ?

JKCade : I found your answer to the bonus on the Velvet Room... but you were supposed to give the main answer here !
How can the younger people following this game (fortunately, the main other recent participant, namely EPS, is just barely above the legal age....) know you got the main question right ?

Anyway you did, and also the bonus, but for the record please repeat your answer to the main question here, before posting the next quote. One and a half point for you.

I thought I did answer it here before I went to answer the bonus, but as I don't see it here I can only presume I did something wrong. Here are the answers. Again.

XXX ? Gregor
(YYY and XXX are the only two characters who alternate in this dialogue - YYY will play "bad guy")
Who are the ZZZ's ? Randall's Rangers
What is the ‘DEED’ that XXX did, according to the first speaker? Defeated the Cetagandan invasion of Vervain
