I am a poor, wayfaring stranger
Wandering through this world of woe
But there's no sickness, no fear or danger
In that bright land

Hallelujah
Rufus Wainwright

I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord,
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth,
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Your faith was strong, but you needed proof.
You saw her bathing on the roof,
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you.
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne,
And she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah.

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Maybe I've been here before
I know this room; I walked this floor,
I used to live alone before I knew you.
Seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march,
It's a cold and broken hallelujah.

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

There was a time you let me know
What's real and going on below,
But now you never show it to me, do you?
I remember when I moved in you
The holy dark was moving too,
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Perhaps someone would llike to analyze this one, which is currently my favorite song. I'm not sure what it means, but I love it.

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Maybe there's a God above
And all I ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you.
It's not a cry you can hear at night,
It's not somebody who seen the light;
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah.

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
I am a poor, wayfaring stranger
Wandering through this world of woe
But there's no sickness, no fear or danger
In that bright land
To which I go

Ha ha ha. One of my best friends at work is a Finnish national!

I can have it translated in a wink!

It's a metaphor of human bloody existence, a dragon. And if that wasn't bad enough, it's also a bloody great hot flying thing.

How about Dorkus, God of Geeks, or NERDITUS, goddess of nerds?

Members of my personal pantheon of dieties?

I highly recommend you listen to the song while you read the lyrics to get a feel for the lyrical rhythm. There's a lot of time changes so the words may not flow correctly in your head without the music.

This is not metal, but it is hard rock. (I thought many of you would appreciate it more because of the reference to Oscar Wilde.

Turns To Me - Savatage
Written by Jon Oliva, Al Pitrelli, Paul O'Neill

Stands all alone
Looks in the mirror
And sees what she wanted to be

Safely unknown
To anyone near her
She sees what she wanted to see
And turns to me
And turns to me
And turns to...

She was prophesied
For an early slide
Followed it to the letter

Well kept beauty queen
If there, always seen
Still you thought she'd know better

No erasing
The time you're wasting
But when you're wasting
You don't care

All those pieces
In short term leases
But when you need them
They're not there

For all those moments of yesterday
She's traded every tomorrow
And now all those moments are so far away
Ghosts haunt each word she would say
As she walks among the decay

She had Oscar Wilde's
Timeless sense of style
As had been her intention

Still she was afraid
Time must be repaid
And there'd be no redemption

Youth and time collide
She could not decide
On a certain direction

Time was catching up
Carefully made up
She avoided detection

For all those moments of yesterday
She's traded every tomorrow
And now all those moments are so far away
I saw it too
Closer than you
What else is there left to say

Wait for me now
I will be there for you
This I will vow
If you still want me to

But it won't be
This I have always known
And in the dark
There's no one to pray for me now

I don't understand what I'm feeling tonight
I don't understand but I'm waiting
Searching the shadows that fade in the light
But I'm feeling alive
Trying to survive
Float with the tide
Till you arrive and I....
In the 60’s, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

Which did you play, Magic, cello or piano?

I don't know why, but that song ("Hallelujah") just appeals to me in a massive way. It would probably sound awesome as a piano/cello duet. It's got such a haunting melody.

It's sweet and sad and powerful, all at the same time.

Sorry Cho, I don't have direct linkage to the song - but if you have P2P software you can just do a search and download it yourself.

Glad you liked it. :) My own favourite stanza is the "duct tape and soldered wires/new words for old desires." Beautiful metaphor and musing on the passage of time.
