Reminds me of the Beefsteak plant developed by Gerswin.

Still a favorite trilogy to re read every year or so.
Forever Hero : Beefsteak plant.
Re: Forever Hero : Beefsteak plant.
Speaking of Gerswin, I've always wondered why Arylyn never cracked after being alive for eons like Gerswin. Is it a function of being balanced or was he already cracked as he started and progressively became worse?
Re: Forever Hero : Beefsteak plant.
Ayrlyn? Unless I'm missing something, I think you're talking about Werlynn, and there's "only" a span of less than five hundred years between Colors of Chaos and The Towers of the Sunset, and remember, Werlynn is Weryl's son. If you look carefully at "Songs Past, Songs for Those to Come" in Recluce Tales, you can see some of the impact of those years.

I thought Arylyn was the ancient in the forest that is never named. She is seen speaking, but her name is never mentioned.
Re: Forever Hero : Beefsteak plant.
I'd never thought of the ancient as Ayrlyn, but she could be. Even so, the same times apply.

That's interesting. I'd assumed she was. Now I'm curious. Is she the girl from the short story about Alykial?
Re: Forever Hero : Beefsteak plant.
No. She's not the "Forest Girl."
