Question about Cities (Recluce)

Mr. Modesitt,

Sir, when developing the cities for the Recluce universe, did you model them off real world ancient/medieval cities (i.e., Nylan modeled after 16th century Amesterdam, or 18th century Barcelona, etc.)?

Not in the Recluce universe, but L'Excelsis in the Imager Portfolio definitely has a Parisian feel.
