Just spotted two interesting IMAX movies that I'm looking forward to seeing:

Spacestation <-- now playing
Hubble <-- coming soon

Perhaps I can entice Charlie into going.

Wow!
Thanks, Curt!
They are all spectacular, but I particualrly liked the one of the dunes on Mars, and the picture of all of Orion (especially on the high-res form available with one more click)

Scientists discover Jupiter-sized alien planet blacker than coal

WILD speculation here, but notice the observation: "It is believed its atmosphere consists of either vaporized potassium and sodium or titanium oxide." Titanium oxide is a compound used in alternative solar cell designs...remember the Mercury Array in Charlie's "Flying to Valhalla?"

Like I said, wild speculation!

That was a wonderful read Clong, thank you! :D

It's so interesting when atmospheres freeze onto planets. Eventually I'm sure Jupiter will become the brightest planet in our solar system, but not for ages!

Well ... it does show a bit more than our group photo the Cassini probe shot while it was in Saturn's shadow.

For whomever is not quite sure:
Cassini Spacecraft Snaps Photo of Earth from Saturn
Leading up to the event, NASA urged Earthlings to "wave at Saturn" at the appointed time, a purely symbolic gesture ...
They also encouraged the public to ... take pictures of groups waving at Saturn.

NASA's Trick Moon Picture
In the image below, assume that the upper edge is north.
In the left (western) half of the picture, the craters' inner walls are lit on the eastern side.
In the right (eastern) half, the inner walls are lit on the western side.

Clearly left and right picture halves were taken several days apart and certainly NOT during a new moon.

I totally agree with your analysis. But you should have explained that if it had been during the "new moon" (as seen from Earth), that would be fully lit, from "above" with no shadow, since this is the "hidden side". I was taken aback for awhile...
