Alan Turing: The Enigma

A biography of Alan Turing, the 'Father of Modern Computing'. About half the book is devoted to Turing's work at Bletchley Park, breaking the German Enigma encyptions during world war two. The rest is about his later life, including his work on the early electronic computers.

The text is exeptionally dry, and it is not helped by the tiny text. Interesting, but not gripping, The Enigma is certainly a work of monumental scholarship, but not of great literary merit.
