By memory (it is late here in Paris and I am too lazy to check it up):
In WA, Miles talking to Elena Bothari while in the process of creating the Dendarii, when the only way out seems to be "forward momentum" with no idea whether this will sent him straight into a wall. The person "shouting from the sidelines" being her.

Edit: hmmmmmmm.... looks I am wrong. I found the discussion I was thinking about near the end of Chapter 10 and though the topic is about the same, the quoted sentence is not there :(
So maybe the topic comes back later in the book? But probably not.

Ha! Got it!

The book is Cetaganda, the thought is Miles' and it's during one of his conversations with Ivan about why he's not filling his superiors in on what's happening with their having the Great Key and all. This comes after Ivan declares he misses Bothari and Miles is reminded of his own loss and his own contribution to Bothari's death, and what a major mistake it had been.

Mm. If I could--one of those one-wish things--I don't even know that I'd choose this.
Book?
Who's speaking?
To whom?
What is "this"?

This is faking report and lying about his seizures and how that unfortunate courier lost legs. So, would Miles if he can erase past, choose to correct that? No :-).

Well, you're right of course! I thought I might lead somebody astray going after the similar dialogue in Komarr, but guess not!

I actually thought of the dialogue in Komarr, but since I couldn't answer yet, I didn't double check. :)

She stared up at Xxx from her cross-legged position, clearly not knowing whether to identify him as hope or not.

Who is Xxx?
Who is she?

There are finally not so many "damsels in distress" in LMB's books. I tried a few places and failed. So maybe it is in the only book allowed (that is, in Vorkosiverse plus Chalion since we still do not play with "The Sharing Knife") that I don't have at home.

So as a guess:

Hallowed Hunt

Lady Ijada staring up at Lord Ingrey?

Of course!
Harra looking at Miles the very first time they met in _MoM_
I first tried the next scene, at breakfast with Miles' parents, because I thought she was standing on that first time with the guard. Stupid of me, I did not check till now that she was in fact sitting crossed-legged at that point.

While we're in between quotes (waiting for confirmation), who wants to add the first two Sharing Knife books to the mix (paperback Legacy came out in April, at the same time as the Passage hardcover)? Or would most of us prefer to leave them out for now?

I'm ambivalent about it. I don't own the first two books yet, but I have them from the library right now. I do think it might make the game more interesting. Just wondering what the other regulars thought about the idea. :)

IMHO any of LMB's books, novels, short stories are fair game.

"Would you buy a used pocket dreadnought from this man?"
Book?
Who asks this?
To whom? (it is OK if you don't remember the name, just indicate what this character is/does)
Who might consider "buying a used pocket dreadnought"? (again a name is not needed here, just the general idea)

Bonus:
Who is "this man"?
What did the person, to whom the question was asked, answer?
Why?
Give enough context to justify the answer.

I am in favour of waiting a bit more, but if a majority wants to include them, I'm a democrat. Still, personally, I vote to wait.

Ok, I want you to know right now that this is a complete and total guess, based on what I know of the series. I have no recollection of a pocket dreadnought, but if my blind shot in the dark will help someone (if only by the fact that they can rule something out), it's best I do my part, eh?

Book? Falling Free
Who asks this? Leo
Of whom? One of the quaddies
Who might buy one? er, someone who needed a pocket dreadnought on the cheap, potentialy for the escape plan?

If it's wrong/partially wrong, there's no way I'll be able to clarify my answers (having no access to the book, and my library's closed for the next week), so anyone can feel free to jump in.

Brother in Arms
Miles asks this of Lt Bone (the financial officer) because they are scheduled to go to the bank to get a loan using the pocket dreadnaught as collateral but he has just been attacked in the shuttleport and is dirty, bloody, has torn clothes and is generally looking pretty disreputable. The "who" doesn't refer to a person, and in fact is somewhat rhetorical, but their appointment is with the bank and that is the "who" is involved.

"this man" is Miles himself, and Lt Bone said that "It won't do" and went on to say the bank was conservative and didn't have a sense of humor about their money. They rescheduled the appointment for the next day.

I first looked for this in WA thinking it was Miles talking about himself when he was trying to figure out how to get everybody out of there, but after Bothari died and he looked bad, but I couldn't find it. Finally I had to look at the list of book titles and ask myself if the Triumph was in that story... so that's how I found it!

XXX's inspired mutinous gesture had given him the best break of the day. He had the momentum now. He wouldn't stop till he was brought down bodily.

All right, then, here's another sentence:
XXX's inspired mutinous gesture had given him the best break of the day. He had the momentum now. He wouldn't stop till he was brought down bodily. His head spun with the unutterable relief of at last getting the shifting, writhing, chittering might-be-might-be-might-be nailed to a fixed is.
Book?
Who is XXX?
Who is he/him?
What was the gesture?

Book? The Vor Game
Who is XXX? Elena
Who is he/him? Miles (of course)
What was the gesture? Elena gave Oser a dose of fast penta to help Miles take over the Dendarii fleet to stop the Cetaganda invasion of Vervain.

The extension of the quote didn't help a whole lot. I've been looking for the last few days, but kept guessing the wrong gesture.

You're right - now it's your turn!

No, I didn't expect the new sentence to be a complete give-away but my next clue was going to be the sentence before, which I thought would be... :D It's tough to get a good balance between challenging and impossible
