Correct (of course)! You're up Caroline!

(Sorry I didn't check this yesterday. My teenager was hogging the internet all day, and it completely slipped my mind when I got a chance to use the computer.)
Waiting patiently for the next Lois McMaster Bujold book.

The full paragraph :
Dammit, this was so unprofessional... XXX halted, arrested by his own thought.
If no one answer in three more days, I'll tell who is XXX.

Well, it's a hard one. If Suzette does not answer after the 5 days are past, I'll have to wait for the next hint.

Edit:
On second thoughts, a shot in the dark, since I was not able to find the exact passage:

Book =Diplomatic Immunity

XXX= Miles

This = the Ba's general behaviour, but I cannot pinpoint just what element of it was referred to by this thought. It is not when Miles realises it is a kidnapping, this passage I did find and the wording is not the same. Some other realisation?

You've got it, VorAlfred, that's it. About fifteen pages before the final realization, which occurs when Miles finish his line of thought, once interrupted by Roic . The moment of the precise quote is very shortly after Ekaterin gave him a sharp reminder that it's his job to rescue the hostages.

So, your turn ^^

Thanks. I'll have to go and find it, to get the story right in my head.

New quote
"So if you truly believe that, why are you standing in my way?"
Book?
Who says this line?
What is "that"?

Yep, that's where I thought it was. :) I decided to wait until this morning to see if it had been guessed yet. You shoot better in the dark than I do, voralfred! :)

I was expecting a slightly different answer
Spoiler: show
Not just that he murdered Tien, but that Vorkosigans (in general, father and son), can get away with murder
but it is close enough.

New quote:
"How very ... unexpected. To him as well."
Speaker, him and book.

What about a hint?

I looked hard for it, and did not find it. Sounds like Miles, but I tried many likely places with no avail.

Actually, to me, it sounded more Cetagandan, possibly referring to Miles, but it could easily be in Chalion somewhere, too. Sounds a little too... restrained to be Miles.

But I haven't gone looking. I prefer to have a direction to head before I start going, and this one didn't indicate a direction to me.

Not a Vorkosigan novel.

Is it Ingrey talking about how Ijada bashed Prince What's-His-Face's brains in with his own war hammer?

Correct (you didn't state the book (Chapter 1 of The Hallow Hunt), but it is obvious you knew after stating speaker and "him"), you're up!

Wow! And I was just guessing! Okay, this one has probably already been done, but it's from the only book I have at hand here at work.

There were some kinds of stupid he didn't have to be, and that was definitely one of them.
Who is "he"?
What is the source?
Just what kind of stupid are we talking about, here?

"He" is Miles in _MoM_

In Silvy Vale, young girls were petting Fat Ninny, who seemed to ahve more sex-appeal than even Ivan. Miles wondered whether he should try to "make a play" to one of them and, wisely, decided not to.

BTW, VorAlfred, I've found one of your cold half-bonus (re-posted March the 10th ) about panthera :

Your were asking :
Book, and a different animal of the Panthera genus (i.e. different from leopardess) for the same female character (i.e. Elena Bothari), plus some context.

In The Vor Game, Miles goes around the station with Admiral Oser and some staff, parading for Ungari to find him, and this draws Metzov out, who tries his best to kill him. Miles takes refuge under the body of Collins, Thorne's sergeant, who just died taking the nerve disruptor charge intended for Miles. Shortly after, Elena and another female mercenary drag the body of the stunned Metzov to Miles and Oser. Exact quote then is :"They dropped the feet with a thump beside Miles, with the matter-of-fact air of lionesses delivering prey to their cubs."

Exactly!! :D

In fact it is not a half-bonus anymore, I promoted it to one full (i.e. 1/2 point) bonus, so you'll receive it on the Sherlock thread.

There is still one more half point to win by finding some other female (i.e. not Elena Bothari) character compared to a leopardess (oh, come on, it's eeeeeeeeasy!)

Lest Ragua does not backtrack enough here is my answer to his quote:

New quote
A retreating enemy should be offered all the face he can carry off. Just don't let him carry off anything else.
Book?
Speaker?
To whom is this piece of wisdom offered?
Who was the enemy, in that case?
Human is as human does....Animals don't weep, Nine

Book : The Vor Game (just re-read, so ^^)
Speaker : Aral Vorkosigan
To : Miles
Enemy : the Cetagandan, in full retreat after the joint fleet of the Hegen Hub Alliance came in to the rescue of the Dendarii

Still for the leopardess : I'd bet on Ijada in the beginning of the Hallowed Hunt, but it's one of the books I don't have just now.

A) For the new quote:
congratulations, that's correct, one full point and the next quote

B) Well, Prince Boleso (or whatever) was interested in Ijada as a Princess of Chalion because of the Leopard being the symbol of Chalion.. but I don't remember her being compared to a leopardess. Maybe I am wrong (I dont have HH either, can anyone check?) Well, yes, I remember there was some kind of different reality, where she was a leopardess and Ingrey a wolf. But that was something very weird, not just a comparison.
What I mean is something very different from that but on the contrary similar to the other examples: a sentence like the two actually comparing, for instance, Elena, once to a leopardess, once to a lioness. It is in Vorkosiverse.

So one point but not one-and a half (I mean, one and a half altogether with your previous answer but not one plus two halves)
Human is as human does....Animals don't weep, Nine
