In the 60’s, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

Well, for a thread that had been dormant for two years, this is a pretty interesting restart.
Next blurb :

Miniature bottles of Scotch vs Bourbon for a game of draughts (checkers?), a cigarette case of human skin. But giant vacuum cleaners as WMDs?

Well, I suppose the answer is a book, not a nonsensical song, but I just cannot resist:

I am too lazy to translate.
In short:
There was a cute little pig.
But when he grew big and fat the farmer girl who used to be so nice with him took a big knife..
So he ran away, ran and ran, till he reached India.
And there he was crowned king of all the local "pigs".

For those of you who don't know french, the final joke would be funnier in english if he had reached Guinea rather than India...

I suspect that this one would be obvious to many....but then again many don't seem to be paying attention. :hot2:

So here's another hint:
Spoiler: show
In 2000, Publisher's Weekly listed this book as the best selling children's paperback of all time

I have just read a summary of _Charlotte's Web_ and indeed clong superbly encapsulated the story in his blurb.
But the thing about
In 2000, Publisher's Weekly listed this book as the best selling children's paperback of all time
seems to be an urban legend. I Googled it, and I found this assertion in several web pages, but the list is given here and _Charlotte's Web_ does not appear. Did Publisher's Weekly publish a different list at the same time? It looks quit puzzling...
Did you know this obviously delicious book has been challenged, too?
As is your motto, clong: "The book banners never rest" !

Not only that, but the idiots who wanted to challenge it because "talking animals are blasphemous" obviously have not even read the Bible (Numbers 22:28) ! Probably, they believe the Bible should also be challenged for quite a few reasons...

There are two lists from 2000:

Best selling children's paperbacks
Best selling children's hardbacks

Google doesn't seem to find this story, but if you search on the PW website you can find the original here.

I can't think of one, I'll open it up to anyone. If I think of one before somebody else, I'll post it, otherwise, have at it.
