Anyone active?

Post by severance »

It's ironic that I can still log in to this Iblist moderator forum at Ibdof - yet I haven't been able to log in to the main Iblist site since it was taken down at the beginning of the year, no matter how many times I try to get everything reset, or how many emails I send to various people. So is Iblist still active, or was it a good idea at the time that, through inactivity, is now pretty much done?

I can't help you with resetting your password, I'm afraid. I managed to get it to reset after the site was down, but I don't remember what I did at the time.

I stop by a couple times a month to clean up any new entries and add the occasional book I've been reading (those that aren't in German, that is). Other than that: no idea. I've given trying to get in touch with Steven after getting no response to emails on multiple occasions. You can draw your own conclusions.

Brad/Darb was very involved on the IBDoF side, and had been very involved in the efforts to merge the two sites, but had never been particularly involved on the IBList side. I think that what happened was he got very frustrated by the lack of participation by the folks who had originally asked him to get involved in IBDoF as a favor, and gave up. You can see his most recent post here.

Nor am I. But you might consider this post by "Darb" (aka Brad), not the very latest, but the second-latest and by just one hour or so, and more interesting than the very last one (by which I mean, the last publicly visible one; Darb used to be an admin here, so there may be a lot of other posts by him that clong, for instance, can access, but neither you nor me)
The first one I am pointing to belongs to a game thread that had been dormant for two years. I suppose you can call the last "blurb" cold, and offer a new one... My knowledge of both the english language and the english literature keep me from proposing "blurbs" in this game, but I enjoy trying to guess. Darb's last offering was really nice!
Maybe I should add that I miss Darb/Brad, too. I used to have a special connection with him, we exchanged PMs, he sent me a few recipes, in addition not the many he posted on the food related threads... Too bad he disappeared.

Maybe I'm thick, but that post means nothing to me.

Also, he had been ill or otherwise struggling with fairly serious health issues and then just disappeared. I kept expecting to hear that he had passed away or something ...

I too miss Brad. He was the heart and soul of this site.

We've gotten somewhat off topic. Darb's final post says:

Interesting time for me to log into this since it's been nearly a year. I too have given up on IBList and am more involved in Goodreads which has numerous active volunteers. Like Spiphany I also log in occasionally to add a book I've read.

Severence, my account also messed up, but I had no trouble resetting my password.

As for Brad's comment above: Well said.

Welcome back, Zybahn.
I hope you are not upset I called your two-years old post in "One Line Blurb" cold and offered a new one...

Hi V, I hope you haven't spent the last two years feeling guilty over this, since I've no idea what you're referring to. I barely recall the game. Or are you making a joke (hard to tell humour online, sometimes)?

No apology necessary. Far more important things to concern ourselves with.

No joke here ,but some kind of cosmic irony.
You posted a blurb two years ago, the thread had been dormant ever since, and about 3 days ago only I posted a new one.
If it had not been I posted it so recently, I wouldn't have even remembered you were the author of the post just before...
