New Full-Cast Audiobook

Post by JTass »

I just saw that the first half of The Magic of Recluce is on the New Releases list on Graphic Audio's website. I'm really excited about this.
For those of you who have not had a chance to check out one of Graphic Audio's productions, I highly recommend them. Their slogan is "A movie in your mind," and they do a wonderful job of living up to it. Listening to one of their full-cast productions compared to listening to the same book read by a single narrator is like when Dorothy lands in Oz and everything switches from sepia to technicolor.
Don't get me wrong, I think that Kirby Heybourne, William Dufris, etc. do a great job. And it should be noted that the traditional one-narrator version is typically much closer to the original text than the radioplay-like performances that are produced by Graphic Audio.

Here's a link for anyone who might be interested. A 5-minute sample is available.

Note: Part 2 is scheduled to be released April 19th.

Hey Mr. M.,

Has Graphic Audio optioned the rights to record the entire Recluce series, or is it only the first book so far?

The first six books [in publication order] are under firm contract. Graphic Audio has the option to contract the remainder of the series.

Hi Mr. M,

Have you heard from GraphicAudio as to whether they will record additional Recluce titles beyond the first 6? I've listened to the first three so far, and I think they did an excellent job.

Not yet, but they still have one more to do.

I do hope they choose to continue, but that's their option.

Have you listened to any of them? If so, what was your opinion?

I have to admit that I haven't... Listening takes time, and right now time is very scarce. I haven't even read any fiction in weeks.

That segment seems quite true to what I wrote, and it's certainly easy to follow.

They've exercised the option for the next six books, but I have no idea of the publication schedule.

Glad to hear it! I check their website periodically, so I'll be on the lookout for when the next title appears in their Upcoming Release list and report back here when the titles appear.

UPDATE - Speak of the devil and he appears - Part 1 of Fall of Angels is scheduled for release on March 18th and Part 2 is scheduled for March 29th.

Hi Mr. M.,

Have you heard anything from GraphicAudio regarding whether they plan to produce additional titles in the Recluce series? It's been a while since they released The Chaos Balance.

I've heard nothing about additional Recluce books being produced by Graphic Audio. They can still exercise the option, but that's up to them.
