Kilt spells it "definately" too - and Kilt is GOD around here, so it's not a *whap*-able offense.

I thought maybe it was one of those Brit-English things, like color/colour.

And KAHREY: You are a lovely young woman, and I'm as envious as Cho of your many talents, especially your poetry.

Heh heh. That's okay.

I just read an interesting article on the downfall of punctuation in America. It was interesting and so very true. The sad thing is that only a very few of us realize it's happening!!!!

It is often pronounced defin eht ly so it seems logical that it is spelled definately.

I always remember finite in order to spell it correctly because it still isn't natural after all these years.

... and Kahrey, you did NOT just say "all y'all"

... next you'll be saying you'uns or our'n.

Don't make me equate Alabama to Kentucky or Mississippi ... I know better ...

Yes, I did say yall, it's a very often used word. We ain't as bad as Mississippi or Tennessee, well some of us, but we all talk kinda alike.

Well, what be the problem with that?

Well, gramatically, it is incorrect, it would be like saying "all of you all." But, just in my normal talking, I don't really care.

Alternatively, you could say "alla yas", alla yoos", "all you lot", "alsa youz", "chumps", "crackas", hen dou ren", "mes amis", "meinen freundes", or "muys amigos"!

Cute. But I wanted to see the nekkid, lathered, glacier leaping photo--the one taken while you were in mid air, plummetting toward the icy glacial pool.... :(

Sorry to disappoint - but even if such a photo existed (and unfortunately it doesn't), it wouldn't be appropriate for the G & PG-rated areas of this forum. :P

For a substitute, you can turn to the description of "Yahoo" in Johnathan Swift's "Gulliver's Travels" ... I was pretty dirty, smelly, unshaven and unkempt at the time, so it's close enough :P

Ok, I e-mailed kilty 3 more photos for local hosting ... 2 of them from the same hiking expedition (1, if I recall, is from about 11,000 ft up on Mt Adams, and the other is from Camp Muir at about the same elevation on Mt Raineer), and 1 from my SCA days back in the late 1980's. :P

/me is feeling particularly lucid, due no doubt to alcohol

Handsome guy.

Is that really our irrascible Darby?

Must be - he spelled Mt. Rainier wrong. :smash:

Your attempts to make me blush with idle flattery are doomed to failure, milady ... i'm immune. :deviate:

 ... whoops.

Ok, that one sorta slipped out on its own. Musta been the alcohol induced spelling error. Yeah, that's it. :P

Ahem ... raineer ... don't gotta spell it to climb it

Perhaps it was a Freudian slip as you were contemplating the brief but intense fling you had with that lovely little reineer reindeer....

(Please, no photos of THAT romantic interlude....)

Whoops - I just realized all this posting I've been doing in this thread today was to the wrong thread. This is the humor thread, and 1800 is the straight one.
