Just finished Cold Mountain, not nearly as impressed as I thought I would be. It was just OK, nothing more... Not really sure why every review of it mention how much of a realistic depiction of the war it was, I my mind there is a very wide gap between the book and what life would have been like.

Just started Life of Pi, excellent read so far.

I remember reading a book by Reymond E feist, i had to start it three or four times over because i coudn't see where it was heading and it didnt interest me..

I finally finished it though, after the fourth attempt, and im glad i did, i enjoyed the middle of it a little more than the beginning, but not much more, its a lot easier to read it if you read it as quickly as possible and get it over and done with. I'm really glad i'm no longer burdened with the fact that that book is sitting on my shelf at home and i havent read it.

 :hot:

the wood was alrite, i mean,, it didnt taste BAD or anything, it tasted rather like polystyrene.. a little too plain but easy on the gums, something to chew rather than to taste, i recommend refill if you want good taste...

 :hot:

It all depends on how painful it is to read. Of late I have had three books that I didnt' like. Two I have finished and the third I put aside and will read again soon.

I tend to finish reading a bad book, but I'll start another one and just read the bad one a few chapters a week until I'm done.

I suppose I should just stop wasting my time if I don't enjoy it, but I guess I keep hoping it will get better.

Heh, I ussed to always try to read through the whole book but now I don't if I am not enjoying it. Usualy by 1/4 of the way through I can tell if I really want to continue. Sice I made that rule I have only stopped reading two nonfiction books before completion and only one of them was because I was not enjoying it. It's not fun to force yourself to get through a book you don't like, just pick up another one.

There are quite a few books that I have stopped reading because I disliked them*cough*Sara Douglass*cough*. It is no fun to read something if you don't like it.

If you are looking for a new book to read (esp. in fiction) then do what I do sometimes. I have a set of cards with the letter A-Z written on them, and I choose one, go to the library and pick a book by an author with that letter to start his last name.

mrdude, do yourself a favor and check out Jack McDevitt, specifically Engines of God (not religious, relax).

Sorry Midas, the library didn't have that book in but I put a hold on it. Anyhow I am now reading Eye of the World by Robert Jordan. I Hope it's a good one.

Yes, excellent.

As the series carries on, there are split opinions on the quality, but the first 4-6 are leet for sure.

At the moment (actually, if I wasn't here :slap: ) I'm alternating between Tolstoy's, War and Peace and Joyce's, Ulysses. Two interesting and very stimulating books: one, an epic spread over several years with numerous characters, the other sprawled across just one day...

War and Peace is enjoyable so far, as is Ulysses, though Ulysses is rather tough to read...but the stream of consciousness style utterly fascinates me...And talk about not knowing words, Midas Knight--Ulysses has words in languages I don't even know, though I manage well enough...I'm able to bluff my way through the Latin, at least...

Stardoc by S.L. Viehl. Quite good so far, if you like the sci-fi/medical sort of books.

Ok, so I finished a hour ago, in the middle of history class, it was really good with about a hundred million plot twists that left me guessing. I had no clue about a number of the things that happened in the end until about 15 pages before it happened, and that was because I re-read the sections, trying to look for the clues.

tried pink once, delicious, but it was more like cardboard than anything else, certainly not refill, and red tastes horrible, you have to get the right brand of paper, its important.

Finally found the great hunt, will start reading it momentarily. :thumb:
